My Artwork
Over the last century, the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil has increased, causing the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to increase. Effects include the heating of the earth, the warming of the oceans- partially melting glaciers and ice. Climate change happens faster and more severe in the Arctic than other places. The sea ice, which is an important feature in the Arctic’s ecosystem, is disappearing. Animals such as polar bears rely on the sea ice to hunt, travel, and take care of cubs. Without the ice, the polar bear species, among many others are threatened. My story board brings above awareness to the impact of climate change on the Artic.
DesignDesign is important because it is constantly all around us and shapes the environment in which we live. Each item was created for certain reasons, with thought put into the details. Design can be used to change the world surrounding us. As the article states, design “helps by making it easier to live up to our aspirations” because its creativity is specially designed for function, meaning, and beauty. Using design even as simple as picking out your outfit of the day, decorating your home, or organizing a party, we create moments among those who experience it. Often times, we as consumer buy so many products that the meaning behind the objects is lost. This article helped me realize to appreciate design more.
http://designformankind.com/2013/02/why-design-matters/ I bought my boots specifically because of their design. I wanted something that was a neutral color, could easily be dressed up or down, had a combat boot feel, and a bit of sweater cloth material peeking out of the top. Another thing I bought was my car. I wanted something with a simple, yet modern interior. I wanted a car with good gas mileage, low miles, and a more SUV type car that met up to safety expectations, with plenty of room for storage in the backseats. Finally, I bought my backpack because of its design. I wanted something black, but still had pockets specifically for my pens and pencils, water bottle, folders, and computer. I liked how the arm slings were cushioned and the bag had enough storage while still looking slim. |
